Perovion DHBP P10

Silicone gum paste peroxide for crosslinking of silicone rubber compounds

Perovion DHBP P10 is a paste-form organic peroxide formulation containing 2,5-Dimethyl-2,5-di(tert-butylperoxy)hexane (DHBP) dispersed in a silicone rubber gum carrier. Designed specifically for the crosslinking of silicone rubber compounds, it combines the high-temperature activation profile of DHBP with the processing convenience and homogeneity of a pre-dispersed paste. Perovion DHBP P10 delivers excellent scorch safety up to 135°C, making it well-suited for silicone rubber compounding operations that require reliable performance, clean mixing, and consistent crosslink density in demanding end-use applications.

Key Features

  • Paste Form in Silicone Gum Carrier: Perovion DHBP P10 is supplied as a smooth, consistent paste in which the active DHBP peroxide is uniformly dispersed within a silicone rubber gum matrix. This form is compatible with standard silicone rubber compounding workflows and facilitates clean, accurate weighing and blending without the handling hazards associated with neat liquid peroxides.
  • Excellent Scorch Safety at 135°C: The product maintains stable processing behavior at temperatures up to 135°C, with a rheometer ts2 exceeding 20 minutes under standard test conditions. This scorch safety window enables manufacturers to perform mixing, calendering, and pre-forming of silicone compounds at elevated temperatures without risk of premature crosslinking or loss of compound flow properties.
  • Efficient Silicone Rubber Crosslinking at 175°C: Perovion DHBP P10 delivers reliable activation at a typical crosslinking temperature of 175°C, with a rheometer t90 of approximately 12 minutes. This activation profile supports efficient press curing and oven vulcanization cycles for silicone rubber products, giving compounders predictable process windows and reproducible cure kinetics across production.
  • Bifunctional DHBP for Well-Structured Crosslink Networks: The active ingredient, 2,5-Dimethyl-2,5-di(tert-butylperoxy)hexane, generates two reactive radical sites per molecule upon thermal decomposition, promoting a dense and well-distributed crosslink network in the silicone matrix. Silicone rubber vulcanizates produced with Perovion DHBP P10 exhibit good mechanical properties, compression set resistance, and thermal aging stability suitable for demanding service environments.
  • Asia-Pacific Regional Availability: Perovion DHBP P10 is stocked and supplied with regional logistics support for Asia-Pacific markets, where silicone rubber manufacturing is concentrated. This regional availability supports shorter lead times and supply chain reliability for silicone rubber compounders in the region.

Typical Applications

Perovion DHBP P10 is formulated for use as a crosslinking agent in silicone rubber compounding, where it is incorporated directly into the silicone gum or compound on a mixing roll or in an internal mixer. Upon curing at approximately 175°C, the DHBP radical mechanism produces a thermally stable silicone vulcanizate with good crosslink uniformity. The peroxide crosslinking route for silicone rubber offers advantages over platinum-catalyzed systems in certain applications, including resistance to catalyst inhibition from amines, sulfur compounds, and metallic contaminants, as well as suitability for compression and transfer molding processes.

End-use applications for Perovion DHBP P10 include silicone rubber profiles, sheets, and tubing for construction sealing and insulation; molded silicone parts for automotive, appliance, and industrial components requiring heat resistance and electrical insulation; food-contact and medical-grade silicone goods requiring low-extractable cure systems; wire and cable insulation and jacketing compounds in silicone rubber; and extruded or calendered silicone rubber products for dynamic sealing and gasket applications across a range of service temperatures.
