Perovion DHBP L10

High-purity liquid peroxide for rubber crosslinking, polyolefin modification, and acrylics initiation

Perovion DHBP L10 is a high-purity liquid organic peroxide based on 2,5-Dimethyl-2,5-di(tert-butylperoxy)hexane (DHBP) at ≥92.0% active content. As a bifunctional peroxide with an exceptionally high scorch safety threshold of 135°C, it is used for the crosslinking of EPDM, HNBR, FKM, polyethylene, and other polyolefins at processing temperatures up to 175°C. Perovion DHBP L10 also serves as an efficient initiator for the controlled-rheology degradation of polypropylene, and as a polymerization initiator for acrylates and methacrylates across multiple industrial markets.

Key Features

  • High-Purity Liquid Form at ≥92.0% Active Content: Perovion DHBP L10 is a pure peroxide product supplied as a clear liquid with ≥92.0% active content, delivering a high radical output per unit mass. This concentration level allows formulators to use precise, low-volume dosages while maintaining consistent and reproducible crosslink or initiation performance across production batches.
  • Outstanding Scorch Safety up to 135°C: The product maintains excellent processing stability at temperatures up to 135°C, with a rheometer ts2 exceeding 20 minutes under standard test conditions. This wide processing window enables mixing, compounding, and pre-forming operations to proceed at elevated temperatures without risk of premature crosslinking or degradation of compound quality.
  • Bifunctional Architecture for Efficient Crosslink Networks: As a bifunctional peroxide, DHBP generates two reactive radical sites per molecule upon thermal decomposition, promoting dense and well-distributed crosslink network formation in rubber and polyolefin matrices. Vulcanizates produced with Perovion DHBP L10 typically exhibit improved compression set, heat aging resistance, and long-term mechanical property retention compared to monofunctional peroxide systems.
  • Broad Substrate and Market Applicability: Perovion DHBP L10 is effective across a wide range of applications: rubber crosslinking (EPDM, HNBR, FKM, POE), polyethylene crosslinking for cable insulation (XLPE), controlled-rheology degradation of virgin and recycled polypropylene (CR-PP) at 200–250°C, and radical polymerization initiation for acrylates and methacrylates. A single product covering multiple process needs reduces inventory complexity for multi-segment manufacturers.
  • Suitable for XLPE Power and Energy Cable Applications: Perovion DHBP L10 is qualified for use in cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation and semiconductor screening compounds for medium- and high-voltage power cables. Its high thermal stability and clean decomposition profile support the electrical property and long-term reliability requirements demanded by cable insulation standards.

Typical Applications

Perovion DHBP L10 is most widely applied as a crosslinking agent in rubber compounding and polyolefin processing. In rubber applications, thermal activation at approximately 175°C — with a rheometer t90 of around 12 minutes — produces vulcanizates with controlled and reproducible crosslink density. The peroxide crosslinking route avoids sulfur-related discoloration, blooming, and off-gassing, making it particularly suitable for colored, transparent, or odor-sensitive rubber articles as well as dynamic sealing components that require stable mechanical properties over extended service lives at elevated temperatures.

In polymer production and modification, Perovion DHBP L10 is used as a controlled-rheology agent for polypropylene in the 200–250°C processing range, enabling precise melt flow index adjustment for film, fiber, and injection molding grades. Additional end-use applications include XLPE insulation and semiconductor screening compounds for medium- and high-voltage power and energy cables, EPDM and HNBR automotive seals and gaskets, polyolefin elastomer foam crosslinking, and radical initiation for solution and bulk polymerization of acrylates and methacrylates in coatings and adhesives production.
