Perovion DCBP PPD-50

Monofunctional DCBP paste peroxide with improved scorch safety for silicone rubber HAV and infrared crosslinking

Perovion DCBP PPD-50 is a white paste organic peroxide formulation containing 50% of Di(2,4-dichlorobenzoyl)peroxide (DCBP) in paste form. As a monofunctional diacyl peroxide, Perovion DCBP PPD-50 is specifically designed for the crosslinking of silicone rubber compounds, with a safe processing temperature of 75°C and a typical crosslinking temperature of 90°C. The higher scorch safety threshold compared to other DCBP paste grades makes Perovion DCBP PPD-50 well-suited for silicone rubber compounding and extrusion operations where compound temperatures approach or exceed 70°C, and for continuous hot air vulcanization (HAV) and infrared curing processes where crosslinking proceeds without external pressure.

Key Features

  • Improved Scorch Safety at 75°C: Perovion DCBP PPD-50 maintains good scorch safety up to 75°C, with a rheometer ts2 exceeding 20 minutes under standard test conditions. This elevated processing stability threshold — higher than comparable DCBP paste grades — provides additional safety margin during silicone rubber mixing on two-roll mills and in internal mixers, and during extrusion of silicone compound at elevated barrel and die temperatures where compound warming can otherwise risk premature crosslinking.
  • Low-Temperature Crosslinking at 90°C: Perovion DCBP PPD-50 activates at a typical crosslinking temperature of approximately 90°C, enabling silicone rubber vulcanization in continuous hot air ovens, infrared tunnels, and other elevated-temperature environments without requiring external mold pressure. This low activation temperature makes it compatible with a wide range of continuous HAV production lines for silicone rubber profiles, cords, and extruded forms.
  • Monofunctional Diacyl Peroxide for Silicone Rubber: As a monofunctional peroxide, Perovion DCBP PPD-50 generates a single reactive radical per molecule upon thermal decomposition. In silicone rubber systems, this mechanism provides reliable crosslink initiation with a well-controlled exotherm profile during HAV and IR cure, supporting predictable and reproducible cure behavior across production line speeds and oven temperature profiles.
  • Paste Form for Homogeneous Compound Integration: The 50% DCBP active content is supplied as a smooth, homogeneous white paste that blends readily into silicone rubber gum on a two-roll mill or internal mixer. The paste form supports uniform peroxide distribution throughout the compound, reducing the risk of cure unevenness or surface defects in extruded and calendered silicone profiles and sheet.
  • Dedicated Silicone Rubber Crosslinking Grade: Perovion DCBP PPD-50 is formulated specifically for the crosslinking of silicone rubber and is available globally across Africa, Asia, Asia Pacific, China, Europe, India, the Middle East, and the Americas. This global supply coverage supports consistent formulation and compounding practices for multi-site silicone rubber manufacturers operating across multiple regional markets.

Typical Applications

Perovion DCBP PPD-50 is incorporated into silicone rubber compounds during two-roll mill or internal mixer processing, where the paste form supports uniform blending with the silicone gum base. Following extrusion or calendering, the compound is cured in a continuous hot air vulcanization oven or infrared curing system at temperatures above 90°C. The improved scorch safety at 75°C reduces the risk of premature cure during extrusion or pre-forming operations where compound temperature management is important, particularly for thicker profiles and high-extrusion-rate production lines.

End-use applications include continuous silicone rubber profiles, cords, and weatherstripping for construction and fenestration sealing; silicone sponge rubber sheet and profiles for industrial sealing, cushioning, and thermal insulation; silicone rubber tubing for food processing, beverage dispensing, and laboratory use; silicone rubber jacketing for wire and cable in high-temperature environments; and silicone rubber components for automotive underhood, HVAC, and industrial equipment applications where performance at elevated service temperatures and good UV and ozone resistance are required.
